Fashion Exhibition - Vintage & older

We are back at the Villa Mazzuchelli!

I've mentioned in the other post about the exhibition that it was divided in two/three parts. One, as you already know, dedicated to the Italian designer Gianfranco Ferrè. The second part was more generally showing clothing from different eras. And then there was the vintage market.

Today we are looking at the pictures from the general exhibition part.

Hit & Run - Mood Board

Good Morning!

Hit and Run today because my parents arrive here later for a week long stay and there's last minute stuff to do. Always, isn't there? I am already running around like a dervish whilst the pictures upload.

Here is one of the mood boards I made the other day.

Spontaneous Combustion - Fashion Crush

I did not plan to post today, but going through my fashion magazines for inspiration and gathering materials/snippets to create mood boards I came across the campaign for Miu Miu Eyewear and I was spontaneously smitten. Smitten I tell you. I think I am starting to develop a brand affinity.

The Culprit:

Of course they are going to be on the mood board...

Fashion Exhibition Part One - Gianfranco Ferrè

On Sunday May 18th I went to a fashion exhibition that took place over 3 days in this beautiful old Villa in a town near Brescia.

The exhibition was divided in two parts. One was dedicated to Gianfranco Ferré and the second part was fashion covering the whole century. In addition, there were Vintage stores from the area presenting their wares on two floors.

Today I am showing you the pictures I took at the part presenting Gianfranco Ferré's work. Such wonderful clothing, a lot of it in silk. I wanted to steal it off the mannequins and make a run for it.

The Blue Bag Argument - Styling Culottes for Spring

Good Morning!

Greetings from the North of Italy where we have a bout of really warm and sunny weather and a blogger who likes to play curious artist with Photoshop filters.

This is the kind of outfit I wear when I'm in the shop but I might also wear it to a more formal lunch or dinner.

I already showed you the pants here on the hanger, now you can see them in action. Do I love them? Heck yeah! They are cropped, wide cut and light, soft material. Perfect for this warmer weather. Really glad I bought them. Only had to get them nipped a little on the waist to better fit my proportions.

Friday's Fashion Find - F.I.N.E.

As you might have guessed, the aim of Friday's Fashion Find is to show you all manner of things "fashion" that I find around the web. Or elsewhere.

So what is F.I.N.E.?

F.I.N.E. or Fun Is Not Expensive is a brand producing bags and other accessories that I found reading Twiggy Magazine, a publication I think sadly is no more. Or they put out an edition every couple of months only. It was so delightfully quirky.

I really liked the prints and designs of the F.I.N.E. bags and their brand philosophy, so I thought I'd share it with you all. Too bad the designs in the magazine aren't on the site anymore as it is a bit older. Yes, I keep old fashion mags around, I still have a host of Velvet editions.

Do you read print fashion magazines? And do you keep the old ones?

On to the pictures!

Festival and Thunderstorm - Pictures from the Lake

The Sunday before the last one we went to the lake for a walk. It was not cold, but clouded and in fact later on there would be a storm.

That weekend the festival of lakes took place, so lots of merchant booths and attractions throughout the town. I love festivals and fairs. I love walking along checking out merchant wares and discovering things you do not find in your garden variety of mall stores.

Here are some of the pictures I took that day:

The furniture you see in the pictures above was made out of wood and corrugated cardboard. Very funky. Quirky stuff like that makes me happy. On the lake they held rowing competitions.

An Evergreen - Jeans and white Tee

The other day I was wearing a very simple and classic combo. An Evergreen.

Friday's Fashion Find - Flat Sandals

Well it is finally warm enough for even me to want to shed the socks (I am notorious for easily having cold) so I thought we could take about summer shoes, sandals in specific.

I love them under a light flowing maxi dress, a playful short dress and I will love them under my new capri length wide leg pants I think.

Here are some picks from around the web that I think are in themselves quite versatile and could be good company for ones clothing for the whole summer.

My first stop was Sarenza, a shopping site dedicated to shoes, and it would almost have been my last, as I got lost in their seemingly endless selection of beautiful shoes.

What I read on the Internet

It's been awhile since I published my Top 10 link list, I did not actually have as much time for pure leisure reading in the last two weeks as I would have liked maybe. Lots of offline work as we are preparing in the shop for the event at the end of the month. So 1 or 2 of these are a little bit older already.

All black - Question and Answer

Bianco Nero profilo

Q: So, tell us about your outfit.
A: It is black. Black sweater, black pants. There is black in the earrings, the bracelet, and some in the bag.

Q: Not exactly a happy spring outfit ...
A: Actually, it was pretty overcast that day and not exactly warm. I don't even know why I put on the sunglasses.

Outfit Quickie - Royal Blue and a Green Polka Dot Scarf

Keeping it brief today. Here is an outfit I wore on the 4th of May for our Sunday family trip. I started out with the fitted jacket over a very lightweight royal blue and white color block blouse, but it got warm enough to take it off. What remained was the green polka dot scarf.

The pictures were actually taken once we returned because it just wasn't feasible to shoot at the trip location.

Friday's Fashion Find - Funky Jungle

For today's edition of FFF, I tried something different. Instead of searching several shops for one specific item, I went over to Etsy and conducted a search for my blog name "Funky Jungle", curious to see what it would come up with.

The search engine presented me 259 items. Here are my personal favorites, a funky mix of fashion, home decor and art:

In the Park

I've already told you about meeting up with Daniela on the 1st of May and thankfully the weather supported our plan to do a nice outdoor photo shoot. There was a thunderstorm building, but by the time it started to rain we were already heading home.

We took the pictures in one of the city parks. I actually had not been here before, so this was two new things wrapped into one for me. It is astonishing how sometimes you do not know the things that exist right around your corner, but it also fortifies my resolution to work on discovering them.

The park is quite large, has three small ponds, two playgrounds for children, ample grass areas for people wanting to sunbath (which they did in droves that day) and in an area slightly hidden there was a group of men playing cricket.

Despite the park being full we managed to not have too much intrusion into our photo backgrounds.

April - Untold Stories

Wrapping up April. A few days into May. It has been a strange month of up and downs. My temper flared a couple of times when it would probably have been wiser to remain silent. Overall tho, I have become distinctively more calm, relaxed and centered over the past years. More focused too.

Here are a couple of pictures I took that never made it into posts.

Blue for Easter Sunday

Like every year on Easter Sunday we were invited for lunch at my in-laws. Of course there were big chocolate eggs and yes, there was also a Colomba (traditional Italian Easter cake). Thankfully, there was also lots of sunshine.

A very relaxed affair. You can see that the pictures of me were taken after a long lunch, some lounging and some playing, because the dress is anything but pristine condition.

In the evening we also had friends over for dinner, but because they too had family lunch earlier in the day, we ordered take away and everyone only chose a single small dish.

Friday's Fashion Find - Mango Shopping Day

Ciao!

So it seems I was very lucky yesterday and got the weather I ordered.

Today I am going to do a slightly different version of Friday's Fashion Find as I will show you a couple of things I actually bought already.

Last Saturday Mango offered a 30% discount on its current collection and called it Shopping Day.

I ... couldn't resist.

Especially since I am still in a desperate pant situation. So many beautiful shirts, tops, blouses etc and struggling with the bottom parts. None of my old pants (from before pregnancy or shortly after) really fit anymore. My body changed a hell of a lot after I started with Karate. Constant physical activity tends to do that to you.

Or, if they were kind of fitting, they left me go bleah. When I did my closet cleaning, I let go of about half. Approximately.
