Links a la Mode - Week of January 29th featuring Funky Jungle

I think one of the best things about blogging is when others genuinely appreciate what you are writing, when they find it helpful, when it enriches their lifes in one way or the other and thus I am very happy to have had one of my recent posts (5 questions to ask yourself when Cleaning out your Wardrobe) chosen to be part of the Top 20 Links for the week of January 29th. Thank you IFB!

Please go and check out the other fabulous links that got selected along side of me.

Berlin Fashion Week Fall 2015 - Use Unused

The "Big Four", that is the fashion weeks in New York, London, Milan and Paris are still a bit off (starting Feb 12 with New York), but these days we can start to admire the first Fall 2015 collections, namely those that were shown at the Fashion Week in Berlin. It should come to no surprise that I keep tabs on that one, seeing as it is held in my country of origin.

And I want to share with you some of the designers & their collections that have been presented there, starting with Use Unused, a Hungarian label founded in 2004. Once again I like the sleek lines of the clothing and I am crushing on the high necklines used for some of the sweaters and sweater dresses.

In the Snow - Buffalo Plaid, Batwings and Fake Fur Boots

The day during which we shot these pictures was absolutely gorgeous as far as weather conditions go. Sunshine, clear sky and the air fresh in a way it can only be when the temperatures drop below a certain point and humidity vanishes. And the snow! There's just something special about a quiet, snow covered landscape bathed in sunlight.

This is a thrifty outfit head to toe. I was wearing an oversized knit top with batwings and faux leather panels that I had found just a few days earlier on the sales rack at the local H&M. Equally from the winter sales are the buffalo plaid scarf and the bag.

Fashion meets Art - Guerra de la Paz

Here, fashion meets art in form of the sculptures created with old clothing and fabrics by Guerra de la Paz.

As some of you may recall, the original name and then subtitle of my blog was "Fashion, Life & Curiousities". And while I may have changed name, I didn't change the underlying idea of wanting to share those things with you. The work of Guerra de la Paz, for me, touches on all three of these.

Minimalistic, just the way I like it - Spring 2015 Ready-to-Wear by Assembly

"I believe in pieces you can wear every day forever, I call it future vintage" - Greg Armas

The Spring 2015 collection by Assembly (New York) has everything I want. Which means it has nothing in terms of being overloaded with any kind of frills. If you look through my own outfits you will find that if you drill down to it, the clothing is mostly simple (with a twist) and whilst I like colors and patterns, very rarely will you find added embellishments. I do not totally discard it, but I use it sparingly.

The Best Buy Look - Grey Felted Sweater, Black Culottes, Reasons to Dress

This grey boxy felted sweater is so awesome, you just do not want to take it off anymore. And it is delightfully versatile. I consider it one of my best buys in 2014, together with the black culottes.

Upon further thinking, I could add the bag to that category as well. And you have seen these sandals so many times, that I surely won't have problems convincing you that they too, once were a best buy of year (I can't remember). So let's call this the Funky Jungle "Best Buy" look.

5 Ways to do My Winter Uniform - And an Oversized Knit Coat

"In the depth of winter I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer"
- Albert Camus -

I just love me some oversized chunky knit, but then, who doesn't? This coat was originally bought near the end of my pregnancy, but it was way too long without the baby bump so I had it shortened (thank you aunt of my husband!)

As you can see blue and grey are still my go to colors this season. And skinnies plus sweater plus shirt layered underneath is still my go to uniform for winter, for cold weather. It is such a simple and yet stylish solution.

Spring 2015 Couture - Maison Martin Margiela and John Galliano

This week saw the return of John Galliano with his Spring 2015 Couture debut collection for Maison Martin Margiela.

I was very excited when I read about it and went immediately to look at the pictures. To be honest I am not sure what I expected. What I got, or saw, was a mixed bag of Margiela goodies.

My 5 Ingredients for Healthy Living & An Easy (Vegan) Pasta Recipe

With every new year, one of the most popular resolutions is to live healthy.

But what is healthy living? Ask 10 people and you will likely get 10 different answers, ask in January and then again in February and the replies will be different each time.

The Party Dress - What to Wear for a Festive Evening or your Valentine's Date

This is what I would call a rather elegant attire. Not a little black dress, but a midi black dress with an interesting cape like top part. It an outfit I'd wear for a festive evening or party, or for a fancy Valentine's Date. In fact I wore this for New Year's Eve, we only took the pictures now because the weather conditions in Germany didn't allow for taking the pictures there and then.

The "party dress" (but not only, I've got plans!) is new, I've got it together with my "clouded leopard" shift dress. There had been a third dress in that order, but adhering to my own 5 questions to ask while shopping I've send it back because it didn't fit exactly right. Anyway, so the dress is new, but the coat you know from here and the shoes from here. And yes, I am using the same bag as in the last outfit, sue me for packing lightly!

Pre-Fall Moschino - A fitting collection and would you wear it?

The Pre-Fall collection by Moschino is a fitting contiunation of the brands style. And quite literally so. This time, Jeremy Scott took the inside out and is showing us the making of the garments on the clothing itself in form of prints and embellishments.

Additionally some designs are revisiting, or reminding us of, the SS15 Spring Barbie collection. All in all I am giving the collection the "Funky Thumbs Up", as I've seen a lot of pieces I'd happily wear, but I have to ask ... Would you? Would you wear a "Measuring Tape Dress"?

(Yes! Yes! Yes!)

Funky Jungle's Favorite Cookie Recipe - Husaren Krapfen

I know I am not usually posting recipes, but I wanted to share my absolute - by far - favourite cookie recipe, traditionally baked in my family since 3 generations. At least. Recently I made two batches of this, one for Christmas and one for my son's birthday, and they were gone in an instant.
