9 Ways to Make Your Boring Fashion Awesome

I've been talking already about doing a little nip & tuck and sprucing up of clothing in various threads, for example here under "Think outside of the box". Today I am going a bit more into detail with the topic and am giving you a little list (well it's more like a collection of spreckles) of ideas & resources. Take old, plain or boring clothes and give them a second awesome life. Now, I was mainly thinking about what you already have in your wardrobe, but of course, it also can apply to those thrift finds.

Assegno in Bianco - Editorial

Another beautiful editorial shot by Sandrine Dulermo & Michael Labica and which I thought fitted quite well with the spring vibe I hope you are getting from me at the moment. Even tho my immediate association is "A Queen in her Ice Palace" when looking at the first picture, this is subsequently remedied. I especially love the shirt dress in the third picture.

When Black Meets Silver - Spring Midi Skirt Love

I've said I'd be on the lookout for a full black midi skirt to add to my wardrobe back when I wrote about "5 More Questions to ask Yourself when Shopping". Well, I've found one. Here it is and I love it.

The material of this midi skirt is a bit thicker, which means that whilst I might not be able to wear it during the hottest months of summer, I can make use of it now in spring and again in fall and winter. The jaquard detailing elevates it beyond being just another simple black pleated skirt.

SS15 Clover Canyon - The Mastery of Print Mixing

Ever since I discovered the fashion label Clover Canyon, I've had a soft spot for them. I always check out their new collections. They are my go to source for pattern and print mixing inspiration. Because I've never found someone who does it quite like them. And once again I absolutely love the shoes.

5 Things That Help(ed) Me Be a Better (Fashion) Blogger - The Blogging Conundrum I

So, "How to Blog" Topics are all the rage about right now, must be because blogging is all the rage right now. Here's my take on it. No, I am not going to tell you what social media you need to be on. I wouldn't know. Or how many times you need to post. Or that you need or not need to do this or that with your comments. This all depends so much on your personality, ultimate goal and reader demographics. No, I am just going to tell you what tools helped me personally becoming a "better" blogger over the course of my short blogging career. And most of it is about the mindset.

Yellow for Spring, Summer, the City and the Beach - Trend Alert

Yellow is one of THE colors for spring & summer 2015 according to popular opinion. It's the color of the sun, flowers, sunflowers and usually associated with happiness. Smiling faces. Laughter. Joy. Here are some options how you can incorporate "the happy colour" into your wardrobe and adopt it for your personal looks.

Mo' Stripes - Pattern Mixing Spring Trends

The story arc about stripes continues. Pattern and print mixing is still one of my favorites when getting dressed. Or should I rather say "creating looks" because it sounds more sophisticated? Here we have vertical & horizontal stripes together with floral pants. Remember this article I wrote awhile back with some basic tips for mixing prints and patterns? As you can see here, I applied some of them.

SS15 Alexander Lewis - Shiny materials, color blocking and awesome boots

The two things that come immediately to mind when looking at the SS15 collection by Alexander Lewis are "color blocking" and "shiny!". Most of the looks feature color blocking (that is, the building block like use of different colors, I always think of Mondrian here) in one way or the other. Albeit with many colors being muted or almost fall like. And the majority of the materials used in this collection have a shiny brocade or satin finish. Then you look a bit closer and realize that he is also doing texture blocking.

5 Reasons Why I Love Shopping Brick & Mortar

I do my own fair bit of online shopping, as you will know, for a variety of reasons, but I also really love to go out and visit the local brick & mortar stores. Here are 5 Funky Reasons Why.

SS15 Collection - Alice & Olivia

Alice & Olivia and their collections have a fixed place in my heart. I love their colorful style with a touch of retro, that yet always feels modern to me. Their SS15 collection picks up some of the strong trend themes for this spring and summer, as we see the omnipresent stripes, lots of florals, black & white, soft pastels.

Stripes, Mustaches and a Big Heart - An Outfit Quickie

Striped Turtleneck, Black Pants, Funky Socks, Black Sandals, Heart Bag || Stripes, Mustaches and a Big Heart - Funky Jungle, fashion and personal style blog

Since the last post was a bit of a visual overload for my blog, I am allowing myself to keep "The Sunday Outfit Post" very brief. This look, true to "Funky Jungle Style", is a mix of thrift, splurge and "stolen" (the socks are actually from the kids collection). Wishing you all a wonderful week!

Easter Sunday Lunch Look - Bird Print Dress, Pinstripes and Leopard

Today I am going to show you my outfit from Easter Sunday, because I think you've seen enough pants lately! Even if we didn't do a lot that day. I wore some new entries. For a change. Namely the dress, which I've already anticipated on Instagram and the blazer which picks up the stripes theme and gives my look a hint of masculine.

It actually rained slightly when we started to take the pictures, but stopped soon after. However I was delighted to be able to get out my leopard print prop umbrella which I had for awhile. And how good it fitted the bird print of the dress!

5 Styles to try this Spring/Summer

I've talked about my current wish list the other day and I thought I'd fill you in on the spring/summer trends I am personally planning to use for and incorporare into my looks.

Spring Wish List

In a previous post I've mentioned that I was/am currently looking for three specific items to add to my wardrobe.

Each of these pieces would be something I plan on being a real "go to" staple. In this case I am ready to splurge, should I find the right fit for me. While I don't do it often, there are some things I am willing to splurge on. That is pay full price and even go a bit beyond my usual average. Pants are one of those things. Shoes would be another. My winter coat too. But if I really, really like it, anything can become splurge worthy.

The Cap, Boyfriend Jeans and Party Shoes - A Funky Jungle Remix

I hope you've all had a wonderful Holiday Sunday. Today I am sharing another complete remix with you. Even tho you've never seen this paperboy cap on the blog, I own it since about five years and I absolutely adore it.

Now the shoes I am wearing in this look are actually so called "party shoes", that is to say that they are meant for dressing up, for attending parties in the usual party outfits. And here I am using them as every day shoes to add some glam to an otherwise very boyish outfit. I don't think I've used them as party shoes a single time yet, but I use them plenty with these boyfriend jeans.

5 Fashion Must Haves I Do Not Own - The Closet Conundrum VIII

There are a lot of articles out there about the so called "must have" items that every woman should have in her closet. I'd know, I googled them. And here I am writing this post to tell you that there is no such thing.

There's no such thing as an universal "must have when it comes to personal style - 5 Fashion Must Haves I Do Not Own - The Closet Conundrum VIII | Funky Jungle, fashion and personal style blog

I mean I get the articles. They are here to make you shop help you build a functional wardrobe to look like everyone else. But I firmly believe that this thing, this functional wardrobe, is different for maybe not all, but a lot of us, depending on your actual lifestyle, goals and who you are. I mean, it does make sense not having/buying item X if you'd never get to wear it based on what the realities of your life are, where you live and where you are headed. Don't you think so?
